“Barrel Racing”
Remember when you were a little kid and you really wanted your parents to get you something new, whether it was a new bike or a new video game? Whatever it was, you wanted it and you would try to do anything you could to get it, well that’s how I feel. I would like to have a new barrel racing horse. It is not just something I want or a new horse to have, I could truly benefit from this. I could learn more responsibility by training a new horse and how to manage that and school. I could also possibly compete at a higher level and make more money for myself and the family. If at any point in time my horse got hurt, I would have this backup horse to continue my goal.
I think that I would be responsible enough to take on training another horse and be able to keep my grades up. I would take care of him/her on my own and my own time. Over the past four years I have learned all the techniques to at least getting a new horse trained and started. It would be tough trying to keep my horse in shape and training a new horse at the same time, because you have to spend a lot of quality time with them; but it would be possible for me to do that. If it gets to be to much and take up to much time from school and the career I already have with my horse then I can just take a break from training him/her till I get things back in order. I think that this experience could help me grow as a person and it would be a good way to learn how to take on certain challenges. This would be a great way to learn responsibility and how to keep things together.
My parents have also said to me that it would be a good idea to get a new horse. If I was to get a new horse, it would be a younger horse that has a lot more speed and would be a lot faster. It would possibly help me compete at a higher lever and be able to earn more money for myself and my family. If I had a new horse I could compete in different event, not just barrel racing. Other events that I could compete it would be pole bending, team roping, breakaway roping, and many other events. If I did those events on two different horse I could make twice the money and would be more eligible to compete in more events. I would also have the opportunity to beat the competition that I would have to beat.
If my horse was to get sick, then I would not have a horse to compete on or keep my goal going. But, if I had a backup horse I could keep earning money and keep competing. Right now, I am barrel racing at an association called E-Z Run Pro and I am leading the youth with 107 points. I am currently third in the Open 4-D with 66 points. But I am only two points behind the lady that is in 2nd and the man that is leading it overall has only 72 points, so I do not have to far to catch up. If I win first place in youth I get a belt buckle. But, if I win first place in Open-4D I could win a saddle. If my horse was to get sick, and I had a backup then I could substitute that horse in for mine and still win the saddle and belt buckle.
I would like to have a new barrel racing horse because it would be a great opportunity for me. It would teach me responsibility and how to manage things more efficiently. It would be a way for me to make more money for me and my family if I have two horses to ride. I could also compete at a higher level. This would be a great way to help continue my dream in becoming a professional barrel racer.
